leadership training for girls and young women with disabilities_Koshi Province

Access Planet Organization organized two day “Leadership training for girls and young women with disabilities on the 21^st and 22^nd May 2024. This training majorly aimed to empower the girls and young women with disabilities with leadership skills to build their confidence providing resilience to fight for the rights and justice of women with disabilities. training that was conducted in funding support of Frida.

Objectives:

The main objectives of the training are:

• To build the knowledge of leadership, Gender roles, and intersectionality among young women with disability.
• To strengthen the capacity of girls and women with disability on national and international laws and policies related to persons with disabilities.

The sessions conducted in this training are as follows:

• Group Formation and Team Building
• Leadership, Characteristics, and Its Values
• Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Equality and Value\
• Important skills for effective communication
• Public Speaking and Personality Development
• Act related to Persons with Disabilities (ARPD)
• Gender gender roles and intersectionality
• CRPD and its linkage with SDG’s

Outputs:

1. 22 girls and young women with disabilities were capacitated with leadership skills to become impactful leaders.
2. The training contributed to strengthening the movement of young women with diverse disabilities.
