Legal Orientation and Legal Counselling for Women with Disabilities

Access Planet organized a three-day workshop on legal literacy in Birendranagar, Surkhet,  in partnership with the Legal Empowerment Fund (LEF) on September 30 to October 2, 2026.

Objectives

The workshop aimed to ensure women with disabilities' access to justice by enhancing their understanding of their rights, existing legal provisions, and mechanisms for seeking justice. It also focused on empowering participants to identify and address legal challenges they encounter in their daily lives, particularly those related to domestic violence, discrimination, and violations of their legal rights.

Participants

A total of 26 women with physical, visual, and hearing disabilities participated in the workshop.

During the sessions, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on important topics, including sex and gender, property rights, the role of judicial committees, and domestic violence.

The sessions were facilitated by Advocate Meera Rai, and the workshop was successfully completed with active participation and meaningful discussions.
