"Advocacy interaction on Accessible Workplace and reasonable accommodation"
On 17 November 2024, Access Planet organized an advocacy interaction on Accessible Workplace and Reasonable Accommodation in Kathmandu. The program had 20 attendees, including Human Resource (HR) representatives from different private and development organizations. The major aim of the interaction program was to sensitize stakeholders on how to enhance accessible workplaces and promote inclusive workplaces for women with disabilities.
The program was hosted by Mamata Subedi, Program Officer of Access Planet, while the overall discussion was facilitated by Mr. Kirtan Shrestha Duwal, a Disability Rights Activist. The HR representatives were oriented on disability-inclusive workplaces, the benefits of hiring persons with disabilities, along with the roles of HR representatives in creating an inclusive workplace. Furthermore, there was a group discussion among the participants regarding what steps can be taken to make the hiring process as well as the workforce more inclusive and accessible.
Output:
- Increased awareness among the HR representatives regarding inclusive workplace and reasonable accommodation.
- Commitments to adopt accessible practices for women with disabilities in the workplace including reasonable accommodation practices and policies.
