Issue Identification of Girls and Women with Disabilities National-Level Workshop Amongst Disability Experts

Access Planet Organization organized one-day “National level workshop amongst disability experts to identify issues of girls and women with disabilities” at Hotel Hardik, Bagbazar, Kathmandu. This program was conducted under funding support of Nepal US Alumni Network (NUSAN) under Alumni Small Grant (ASG) and Frida young feminist fund. Forty one national level disability rights experts participated in the program.

Being conducted under the project entitled: “Fostering Democratic Rights of Women with Disabilities through Political Engagement” , the program aimed  to engage the national disability rights experts to identify the key issues of girls and women with disabilities and consolidate those issues as the form of declaration document to be presented to political leaders to ensure the issues of girls and women with disabilities are included in the political agendas during the upcoming election and the political leaders express their commitments to include women with disabilities and their issues in the overall development process.

Outcomes of the program:

• 41 participants  shared their experience and impart issues faced by girls and women with disabilities based on their expertise.
• Declaration document has been prepared on the issues of girls and women with disabilities which shall be presented to representatives of political parties ensuring  acknowledgement of the document in their manifestos for national and state level election to be held this year.
