Legal Literacy Training for Women with Disabilities_Dang
Tulsipur, Dang
Access Planet Organization, in partnership with USAID/TAF CSM program, conducted a two-day training titled "Legal Literacy Training for Women with Disabilities" at Tulsipur, Dang. The training aimed to empower women with disabilities by providing them with knowledge of disability-related policies, gender, feminism and justice mechanisms. The training was facilitated by TOT-trained women human rights defenders and local experts guided and mentored by Laxmi Nepal and Project Officer Choodamani B.M. from Access Planet.
Objectives:
The main objectives of the training are as follows:
- To enhance knowledge of women with disabilities of Tulsipur, Dang on gender, feminism, disability-related policies, and justice mechanisms.
- To support the establishment of network of women with disabilities in Lumbini Province.
Following sessions were conducted during the training:
Day 1
Session 1: My Life, My Realities, Gender and Gender Role
Session2: Intersectional Feminist practices
Session3: Demystifying Feminism
Session4: Act Relating to Rights of Persons with Disabilities (AARPD) 2017
Day 2
Session1: Models of Disability
Session2: Essential Skills for Effective Advocacy
Session3: Mechanism against violence at the local level
Session4: Analysis of the Case Stories from Feminist Perspective
Outcomes:
- Women with disabilities of Tulsipur, Dang, have increased understanding of the concept of gender, feminism, and their legal rights.
- Their self-esteem and confidence level have increased as it was the first training for some participants.
- The confidence, knowledge, and facilitation skills of ToT participants have been enhanced.
