The program featured four interactive and empowering thematic sessions aimed at enhancing the knowledge and confidence of young women with disabilities. In the first session, Ms. Rupa Roka Magar led discussions and games on leadership and teamwork, emphasizing the importance of communication, unity, and cooperation in diverse groups. The second session by Ms. Nabina Karki focused on the construction of gender roles and identities, highlighting how institutions like family, media, and education reinforce gender norms and contribute to the marginalization of women with disabilities. Participants engaged in group work to critically analyze these societal structures.
In the third session, Ms. Chandani Devi Sharma introduced feminism and intersectionality, explaining how overlapping identities such as caste, class, disability, and geography intensify discrimination. A role-play activity helped participants understand how privilege and marginalization operate in society. The final session, facilitated by Ms. Ganga Sharma, covered the “Act on Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2074,” outlining disability classifications and legal provisions related to education, health, and employment. Participants shared concerns about the lack of effective implementation and the invisibility of certain disabilities. These sessions collectively fostered awareness, leadership, and advocacy skills among the participants.
