Access Planet Organization organized two days of “Leadership training for girls and young women with disabilities on the 18th and 19th of June 2024. This training aimed to empower the girls and young women with disabilities with leadership skills to build their confidence providing resilience to fight for the rights and justice of women with disabilities. 17 young girls and women participated in the training that was conducted in funding support of Frida.
Objectives:
The main objectives of the training are:
- To build the knowledge of leadership, Gender roles, and intersectionality among young women with disability.
- To strengthen the capacity of girls and women with disability on national and international laws and policies related to persons with disabilities.
The sessions conducted in this training are as follows:
- Group Formation and Team Building
- Leadership, Diversity and its Value, Equity and Equality
- Personality Development and Public Speaking
- Important skills for effective communication
- Act relating to rights of persons with disabilities in relation to the rights of women (ARPD)
- Gender, Gender Roles, and Gender Bread Person
- Intersectionality
- Models of Disability Rights
Outputs
- 17 girls and young women with disabilities were capacitated with leadership skills to become impactful leaders.
- The training contributed to strengthening the movement of young women with diverse disabilities.
