Access Planet Organization conducted a virtual meeting on “Follow-up Workshop on Community-Level Leadership Program for Young Women with Disabilities” on 20th June 2025, Friday, at 3:00 PM. The program had the participation of seven trainers who received TOT on Leadership and Legal Literacy held in the month of April at Pokhara. The program aimed to reflect on their experiences of being a trainer in their community and exchange learning experiences and further commitments.
Objectives:
- To reflect on the leadership program that was conducted by the trainees of TOT program
- To understand their further plans in utilizing the received skills
During the virtual workshop discussion, Ms. Laxmi Nepal, Executive Director of Access Planet, invited participants to reflect on their experiences as trainers and organizers, focusing on the most impactful changes and key learnings. She also asked about their future plans and how Access Planet could support their continued growth.
Participants, many of whom were first-time trainers, shared that the opportunity boosted their confidence, improved communication skills, and helped them grow as leaders. Despite initial nervousness and challenges, such as working with participants with diverse disabilities and delivering complex topics like feminism and intersectionality, they felt proud of their performance and the active engagement of participants.
Participants also noted that while the TOT content was relevant in some districts, it needed to be simplified in others depending on the participants’ backgrounds. Looking ahead, they committed to sharing their knowledge with more women with disabilities and continuing advocacy efforts. They also highlighted the need for more skill-based, income-generating trainings at the community level and requested future opportunities to be engaged as trainers in Access Planet programs.
Outputs
- New facilitators and activists with disabilities have been developed, equipped with increased confidence, facilitation skills, content preparation abilities, research habits, and effective techniques to engage diverse participant groups.
- Participants gained the ability to assess and differentiate the needs and capacities of various community groups, helping them tailor content delivery more appropriately and inclusi
