Delegation Visit to Inclusive Education Department of Center for Education and Human Resource Development of Sanothimi for Advocacy on Challenges faced by Girls and young women with disabilities for Quality Education

Access Planet conducted advocacy with the representatives of Inclusive Education Department of Center for Education and Human Resource Development of Sanothimi, Bhaktapur with the objectives to advocate about the challenges faced by adolescent and young women with disabilities to achieve quality education and also to take the commitments from the respective authorities for the inclusive quality education of the girls and young women with disabilities.

The meeting attendees included Divya Dawadi, Director, Narad Prasad Dhamala, Section Officer and other staffs of Inclusive Education Department as well as the representatives of Access Planet Organization including President, Gargi Nepal, Advocacy Committee Member of Kathmandu, Kusum Ghimire and Program Associate, Jenisha Maharjan.

In this advocacy program, respective authorities and the other meeting attendees had sequence of discussion regarding issues and problems faced by the girls and young women with disabilities to attain quality education. The meeting attendees expressed their commitments to continue the works they have been doing for the services to the students with disability for the quality education and ensured to keep in mind about the services for the students with disabilities if they keep on getting proper information from the respective schools. Likewise, assurance was also made by authorities of Inclusive Education Department to take immediate action for those who violates the policies and undertake corruption in the schools.

Outcome:

• The respective authorities of Inclusive Education Department were sensitized about the problems faced by the girl students with disabilities to gain the quality education.
• The authorities of Inclusive Education Department committed to address the challenges faced by the students with disabilities by effective monitoring of the schools and conducting further necessary actions.
