Leadership Training for Young Women with Disabilities at Dailekh, Karnali Province

Introduction
On March 22-23, 2022, Access Planet Organization hosted two days of leadership and legal literacy training for young women with disabilities. The training of trainers included eleven women from the Surkhet and Dailekh districts of Karnali Province. The goal of this workshop was to empower young women with disabilities at the grassroots level in order to grow the movement of young women with disabilities in the community. Following the training, each of the two districts developed an advocacy committee to promote young women with disabilities in their communities.
The second phase of this project aimed to deliver "one-day leadership training to Dailekh district young women with disabilities." On April 21, 2022 (8th Baishakh) , Access Planet Organization hosted a one-day Leadership Training for Young Women with Disabilities in Dailekh, Karnali Province . With the help of FRIDA, the Young Feminist Fund, the training was held with the purpose of empowering young women with disabilities and expanding local advocacy for women's and disability rights. Members who have previously participated in the Training of Trainers facilitated this workshop.
In the training, participants were provided with sessions on leadership and legal literacy including:
- Team Building and Group Formation
- Act on the Right of Persons with Disabilities
- Sex, Gender and Gender Roles
- Public Speaking
Outcomes of the Program:
- 18 participants were sensitized about the rights and laws related to women with disabilities as this was the first training in Dailekh with special focus on women with disabilities .
- The training of trainer participants got chances to enhance their skills on leadership, program organizing and training facilitation.
- The enhanced leadership of training of trainer and other participants has contributed in strengthening grassroots movement of young women with disabilities in Dailekh district.
