Techno-based Pre-employment Skill Development Training for Youths with Disabilities

Access Planet Organization under the support of Ministry of Social Development, Bagmati Province and Redcross Nepal, Balkot sub-branch, organized a 14 days ‘Technology Based Pre-employment Skill Development Training for Youths with Disabilities’ at Balkot, Bhaktapur, Bagmati Province. Eleven youths with disabilities from the province got a chance to participate and acquire various technological and pre-employment skills.

With aim to sensitize youths with disabilities on technology and employment skills, the 14 days training covered following major topics:

1. Email handling and email writing techniques.
2. Introduction to office setup and basic office handling:

• Printing and formatting
• Photocopy
• Scanning

3. Letter writing Theoretical and Practical (English/Nepali)
4. Career Counselling
5. Letter writing practical and letter book keeping
6. Conducting Formal Program
7. Office Documentation

• Attendance Sheet
• Transportation Sheet
• Payment Voucher

8. Organizing and conducting meeting
9. PowerPoint Presentation
10. Writing CV and Cover letter
11. Communication and Interview skills
12. Nepali Typing
13. Communication and interview skills
14. Bill making and financial statement preparation
15. Report writing
16. Event Preparation and Event management

Outcomes of the training:

• Eleven youths with disabilities were provided with technology and employment based skills.
• Through practical skills like email and official letter writing, presentation and interview skills, CV and bio data writing skills…etc, confidence was built up in the trainees.
• Participants were able to identify their unique skills and were able to plan for future through proper career counselling.
• Exposure to resource persons from various field developed professional circle for the participants creating a link to employment sector.
