Voices at the Margins: Access to Justice for Women with Disabilities in Nepal
This research report presents a comprehensive province-level study on the justice-seeking experiences of women with disabilities in Nepal. Conducted in four provinces: Gandaki, Karnali, Koshi, and Madhesh. The study combines surveys, key informant interviews, and case studies to explore the barriers women with disabilities face in accessing justice. Findings reveal widespread violence, limited legal and procedural knowledge, institutional discrimination, and significant gaps in disability-inclusive justice services. Despite progress in certain areas, women continue to encounter social stigma, inaccessible systems, and inadequate state support. The report provides evidence-based recommendations for strengthening disability-inclusive justice mechanisms, enhancing legal literacy, and promoting enabling environments that uphold the rights and dignity of women with disabilities
